2016-2017 Female Hockey Update

1. Central Registry: Our Female Hockey Central Registry is open for another season. Players planning to play Female Hockey in Nova Scotia during the 2016-17 season are asked to sign up through our Central Registry.

This year, there is a brand new option to sign up for Female Junior Hockey. Plans are currently in the works to provide a Female Junior Hockey League for junior-aged players during the 2016-17 season. If you would like to play Female Junior Hockey, you mustsign up with our Central Registry.

The Central Registry can be accessed by clicking here.

Signing up through the Central Registry is absolutely free. Registration fees will be collected at a later time.

Please note: Two of the female hockey zones have been re-named for the 2016-17 season. The zone formerly known as the Halifax Zone has been renamed Metro West and the zone formerly known as the Dartmouth Zone has been renamed Metro East.

 2. Midget Overage Player (Bad Birthday) Policy Removal: The Midget Overage Player Policy has been removed for female players for the 2016-17 season. Players born between September 1 – December 31 will no longer be able to apply to Female Council to seek approval to play as an overage player.

Players with “bad birthdays” are encouraged to sign up to play Female Junior Hockey during the 2016-17 season by entering our Central Registry.

The Central Registry can be accessed by clicking here.

 3. New Female Hockey Tournament Policy:  Effective this 2016-17 season, Female Council is implementing a new tournament policy in an effort to help reduce costs to players and to facilitate league play.

All Female member teams, excluding NSFMHL teams, will be restricted to three (3) sanctioned tournaments. League and Provincial tournaments are excluded.

Teams must identify their chosen tournaments by November 30, 2016 to the HNSFC Regional Director. In the event of tournament cancellation, the team can contact the HNSFC Regional Director to schedule an alternate tournament.

Teams are reminded that league play takes precedent over tournaments.
